The Divination of facts surrounding objects may include the Mentalist holding or placing his hands over an object, and with unerring accuracy, describing its owner's characteristics. The Mentalist can even divine the serial number of a bill he has never seen or touched before, sealed in an envelope and placed before him.

In Premonition effects, the Mentalist, holding a sealed envelope, may announce to the audience that he had a dream the night before where he would meet a lady of a certain height, who is from a certain location, with three siblings, has 4 children, has a husband named Allen, and that she would be named Stephanie. When such a total stranger stands up in the audience, she is handed the envelope. The envelope contains a piece of paper describing her, including the name of the favourite pet dog which she is now thinking of!

X-Ray eyes effects involve eliminating the sight of the Mentalist through the use of a blindfold, and the Mentalist has to perform certain effects that are easy if you are sighted, but extremely difficult or even impossible otherwise. The Mentalist may try to describe certain objects held up behind him, or guess the location of an object and walking towards it with a blindfold on, or even drive a car. The sightless Mentalist relies even more on his other senses and particularly his mind for a successful outcome. Teleportation effects involve the transporting of objects invisibly from one location to another when the Mentalist sets his mind to it. Dollar

bills in a sealed envelope held by a volunteer can be made to travel into another sealed envelope held by another volunteer!

Psychokinetic effects involve the influencing of objects to behave in a certain way with the mind. This usually involves the Mentalist concentrating on making an object move, like moving a pen on a table by just staring at it, or by making an object fly through the air on its own, or by bending and breaking a spoon or other cutlery by just stroking them lightly. Shaun Tan has been very successful with these type of effects, and they remain his pet effects.
